Connie Belle Tolin

Connie Belle Tolin, 57, was called to her heavenly home on December 31, 2019 after complications from her battle with blood cancer. She was born October 21, 1962 in Crawfordsville to Daniel E. and the late Opal J. (Tracey) Rice. She celebrated 34 years of marriage to Jeffrey J. Tolin on November 29, 2019.

Connie was a 1980 graduate of Southmont High School. She then went on to the Lafayette Beauty Academy where she earned her cosmetology license. She worked as a hair dresser managing and owning her own business, Scissor Wizards, in New Market for many years where she also jokingly served as the unofficial mayor.

Connie accepted Christ at an early age. It was no secret that her love for Jesus was her highest priority. She lived her life to honor Him, and enjoyed celebrating this at Whitesville Christian Church.

Connie loved hiking at the local Shades State Park, kayaking down Sugar Creek, and anything to do with horses, especially barrel racing. What she enjoyed most of all is spending time with her family and many friends, and spreading her love for God.

She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Tolin, children Creed and Mallory Tolin, father Daniel Rice (Ruth Hallett), brother Dennis Rice, sister Beverly Rice (Tom Haniford), and two nieces Rachel (Zack) Cron and Jenny (Cole) Long all of Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Rice.

Friends may visit with the family 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 South Ladoga Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 6, 2020 at the church with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Checks payable and addressable to Be the Match Foundation, 500 North 5thStreet Minneapolis, MN 55401 or online at www.bethematch.org. Please include “In Memory of Connie Tolin” in the memo.

When you have known a family so long you still do not know what to say, but I have learned that saying you are sorry for their loss is enough. Its later they will need some encouragement to go on with their lives. Be encourage knowing there are many praying for all of you.

It saddens us when someone goes through so much and we lose them at such a young age but Connie has touched so many and was a blessing to all who knew her. Our condolences to the entire Rice and Tolin Family.

I don’t think I ever saw Connie without a beautiful smile on her face, a smile which undoubtedly came from within. She openly and unashamedly loved her Savior and her family and was an incredibly proud mother of Creed and Mallory. My love and prayers go out to you.

We loved Connie like a daughter, and still do. She was kind and generous to a fault and so protective and loyal of her family. Her departure from our lives leaves a tremendous void and so much sadness but her soul will soar in Heaven with joy.
    Good bye Connie.

I am so sorry for the loss of Connie. She was an amazing person, she always cut my hair when I was growing up. We always had a lot of fun showing horses when I was growing up! She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone if she thought she could help them! You will be so dearly missed Connie.

Connie was one of my first friends—each of us having older siblings who were also good friends, and later horse-loving daughters who would reunite us at horse shows. Her bubbly, warm, caring, and supportive personality was consistent and evident throughout all of those years. I have no doubts that God greeted her with a horse to ride through his pearly gates. Much love and prayers to you all.
