John H. Isaacs

John H. Isaacs, 95, of Rockville, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Wabash Valley Hospice Center, Union Hospital, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on December 16, 1922 in Crawfordsville to the late William and Verna (Johnson) Isaacs. On December 26, 1947 in Kokomo he married Ruth (Lindley) Isaacs. Ruth preceded him in death May 25, 2010.

John graduated from Marshall High School in 1940 and then from Purdue University in 1946 where he played the French horn in the Purdue Marching Band. He was an Agriculture Teacher, teaching at Tangier, Waveland, and Southmont. After his retirement, he began running the family farm. He loved animals, especially birds. He also loved flowers, and watching the farm crops grow. He and Ruth traveled the world and always enjoyed telling about their experiences. He was a member of Tangier Friends Church, Montgomery County Retired Teachers, and Purdue Alumni Association.

He is survived by his brother, Gerald (Phyllis) Isaacs, Gainesville, Florida, nephews, David and Donald Isaacs, nieces, Susan Dippon, and Linda Isaacs, caregivers, Doug Heineman, Laura Hafner, and Raymond Sutherland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son, John Carl Isaacs, and son William Allen Isaacs.

Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 20, 2018 At Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 East Green Street, Waveland, Indiana 47989 with Pastor David Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Rush Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit on Sunday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.

    Wonderful man to have known. I was friends with his wife and they enjoyed life together. John is a member of our Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association. He will be missed by many. He was proud of a multitude of accomplishments and enjoyed nature and all of learning!
