John M. Green


John M. Green passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Clinton Gardens, Clinton, with family at his side. He was born February 24, 1935 in Indianapolis to Emil J. and Loretta Green.

He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in 1952. After graduation he joined the Air Force where he served until December 1960. He was employed at Schwitzer Corp. in Indianapolis until August 1985. He also worked at Indianapolis Auto Auction and Turkey Run State Park. On June 30, 1979, he married Sylvia Coleman Green who survives. He attended Waveland Covenant United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 500 and the B-26 Marauder Historical Society. He enjoyed family, friends and race cars. He never met a stranger especially at the race tracks. He could talk forever about P-51, AJ Foyt, Andretti, the Novi and John Wayne.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two sons, Matt (Jennifer) Green, of Marshall, IN, and Scott Green of New Palestine, IN; a brother, Richard (Beverly) Green, of Gallatin, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grand daughter, Amy Lynn Green.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 20, 2018 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green Street, Waveland, IN, 47989 with Pastor William Pike officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital in John’s memory.
