William “Mitch” Lester Mitchell, 90 of Russellville, passed away July 11, 2018 at Hendricks Regional Health. He was born on April 21, 1928 in Nortonville, Kentucky to the late Oscar and Rama (Loven) Mitchell. On March 22, 1960 he married Rosemary (Young) Mitchell. She survives.
Mitch proudly served in The United States Marine Corps during WWII. After returning home from the war he worked in restaurants and a car factory before beginning his working career for US Steel. He worked in the steel industry for thirty-four years before retiring. After retirement, he enjoyed junking, flea markets, woodworking, and refinishing old furniture. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Mitchell, Russellville, three children; Virginia (Mark) Boylstein, Valporaiso, IN, Doris (Wayne Robinson) Barnes , Chicago, IL, William (Cynthia) Muskegon, MI, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers; Tommy Mitchell, Portage, IN, Joe Mitchell, Portage, IN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by; his parents, nine siblings, and two grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service held by his family.
